Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps is a collection of downloadable content (DLC) released by Insomniac Games, to complement the story of the main game Marvel’s Spider-Man which was released on September 7, 2018. In this DLC consists of 3 parts, namely The Heist (23 October 2018), Turf Wars (20 November 2018), and Silver Lining (21 December 2018), each part takes about 2-4 hours, so the total additional gameplay is around 12 hours if we play casually. The City that Never Sleeps takes place after the main events of Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018). This time Spider-Man will face a crime wave led by a physically enhanced mafia boss named Hammerhead. Just info the file size of each DLC is around 1-2 GB.
For me, The City that Never Sleeps DLC is like a main story that was deliberately cut from the full story in Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018), because in my opinion it feels quite like the things that were cut, such as the introduction of the Silver Sable character who suddenly disappeared. , and just appearing in this DLC series, there are also Black Cat characters who are very awkward to be told in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series (2018). The worst thing is of course, if we don’t play this DLC, we will lose the moment about the main story of the character Yuri Watanabe, who has changed drastically in her future. This DLC is like a Tart Cake, where the topping should have strawberry fruit, and deliberately taken to be sold separately.
One of the drawbacks of playing a DLC story like this is that we have to adapt to the gameplay of this game first, because I haven’t played this game for more than 1 year. It’s unfortunate if the Blu-ray cassette of this game has been sold, so you have to buy the game again, not only that, if your save is lost or different regions then we have to start over from scratch, and it’s quite time consuming. Luckily I bought a Digital game, and I got this DLC The City that Never Sleeps Pack for only 100 thousand from one of the sellers on Facebook, so why not, the price is quite cheap. When I checked the original price at the region 1 store, it was still $ 9.99 per DLC.
For the overall story line, it’s quite interesting, we get to know more about the 4 characters from this game Black Cat, Yuri Watanabe, Silver Sable, Mary Jane Watson and I was quite surprised by the change in Yuri Watanabe’s character, which for example was brought to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 series. On PS5 later, people who don’t play this DLC will be confused by the change in Yuri’s character. Mechanically nothing has changed at all, everything feels the same, which adds only to the clothes from Spider-Man, maybe so you don’t get bored.
We will be taken to various main missions and side missions as well as in the main story of Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018). The city remains the same, the gameplay remains the same, the skills are the same, there is only a little additional story. For some additional missions the pattern is also the same as the original game, from chasing cars, stopping gang wars, etc. From this DLC, I just realized that Spider-Man is very close to women. Actually, there is not much that can be said from this DLC.
What’s interesting in my opinion about this DLC is the final boss battle which I think is quite epic, fighting a large boss, in the afternoon when the sun is about to set, this game really spoils us with such beautiful HDR. During the course of this game, the character Miles Morales who will replace Spider-Man has begun to be trained, I think maybe later Marvel’s Spider-Man will have several other playable super hero characters.
Overall, if you have played the main Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) series, you must play this DLC, because there is a main / important story that is too bad to miss from this DLC. I suggest looking for this DLC on the store, look for people who sell DLC copies from Marvel’s Spider-Man Game of The Years series. In my opinion, it’s a nostalgia for me to play a game that is very good, I have reviewed this game for friends who haven’t read it.
